Description

This is a small, mainly late 18th or early 19th century house, with probable earlier elements, forming a pleasing end to the group of houses on the east side of East Street, north of Ockman Lane. The house is two storeys high and has three windows. The ground floor is built of red brick, while the upper floor is hung with tiles. A half-hipped tiled gable, likely the oldest part of the house, sits above the southernmost window. The remainder of the roof is slate-covered. The glazing bars in the windows are intact. The northern part of the house, numbered 17A, features a 19th-century shop window with intact glazing bars. The house forms a group with La Rochelle, Chequer, Cannon House, and The Vicarage (numbers 16 to 19 inclusive).
