Description
Roslyn House is a late 16th-century timber-framed and plastered house that was re-fronted in the 18th century with grey gault brick. It features a parapet with a stone coping. The house retains its late 16th-century apple wood frame, while a 17th-century timber-framed and plastered wing extends to the northeast, showcasing exposed timber-framing on the first storey. The building has two storeys and attics, with a nine-window range of double-hung sashes that include glazing bars, set in plain reveals with stone sills. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door framed by a wood doorcase with panelled reveals, pilasters, and a pediment. A 19th-century conservatory projects from the northeast end. The roof is tiled, hipped, and features five low-pitched roofed dormers. Roslyn House is part of a group that includes Nos 2 to 12 (even), the stable to No 4, Whitehall Cinema, Nos 22 to 26 (even), the wall to the former house "The Grove," and No 3.
