Description
The house at the rear of the White Hart Hotel, built in 1841, is a 16th-century timber-framed and plastered structure with an L-shaped plan. An additional wing was added in the 18th century, connecting to a small 18th-century house at the southeast end. The north-west front has been significantly altered in the 18th and 19th centuries. The upper storey features applied timber framing with arcading, similar to Nos 9 to 13 odd, while the ground storey is now finished in painted brick. The building has two storeys and a five-window range with three-light double-hung sashes that include glazing bars. A segmental arched carriage entrance on the north-west front has been converted into an entrance doorway, and the roof is slate. Inside, there are some original timber-framing elements, wall posts, and moulded brackets. The southeast end includes an 18th-century house that is now part of the hotel, constructed with blue brick and red brick dressings, also two storeys high with a four-window range of double-hung sashes in cased frames. A raised brick band runs between the storeys, and external chimney stacks project at each end. At the rear, there is a timber-framed and plastered wing, partly weatherboarded, with a double-pitched tiled roof.
