Description
47 Newland Street is a house dating from the 18th century, which has a brick front that is now covered in cement render. It features a parapet with stone coping and a raised brick band below. The building has three storeys and cellars, with a two-window range of double-hung sashes that include glazing bars. A prominent bow with three-light windows extends through two storeys. A brick band runs along the second storey window sill level and encircles the top of the bow. Above the bow, there is another three-light window on the second storey. The entrance features a wooden doorcase with fluted pilasters, an ornamented frieze, and a cornice. This house is now part of the Spread Eagle Hotel. It forms a group with the Spread Eagle Hotel and Nos 53 to 57, along with Nos 56, 58A, 58, and Nos 60 to 66.
