Description
66 Newland Street is an 18th-century red brick house featuring a parapet with stone coping and a modillion brick cornice. The building has two storeys and attics, with a five-window range of double-hung sashes that include glazing bars set in plain reveals. The central window on the first storey is distinguished by a rusticated brick architrave and a projecting keystone, which is currently painted. The entrance consists of a central six-panel door framed by a wood doorcase that has panelled reveals, pilasters, and a cornice; originally, this doorcase featured a pediment. At the south end, there is a small 20th-century shop. The roof is tiled and has a mansard design with three gabled dormers. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 56, 58A, 58, and 60 to 66 (even), along with No 47, The Spread Eagle Hotel, and Nos 53 to 57 (odd).
