Description
68 Newland Street is a Grade II listed building from 1841. The front elevation facing the street is two storeys high and constructed of 18th century red brick. It features three 19th century sash windows in cased frames, a painted eaves cornice, and an old tile roof with a gable end. The building has a 20th century shop that extends across both the front and side elevation to Guithavon Street. The cove of this building dates back to the 17th century. The gable end facing Guithavon Street is rendered. The larger part of the property, which faces Guithavon Street, is a three storey structure that appears to be from the 18th century but has origins in the 17th century. It has a rendered facade with six 19th century sash windows on each floor, a pantile roof, and gable ends. The core of the building is timber framed, with the top storey being an early 19th century addition.
