Description

The buildings at 74 and 76 Newland Street date to the 18th century and have a red brick front with a parapet and a moulded brick modillion cornice. They are two storeys high with attics, and feature a five-window range. The windows are 19th-century double-hung sash windows with vertical glazing bars, set in plain reveals and topped with gauged brick flat arches. The central window has a semi-circular brick arched head, a stucco keystone, and brick pilasters. The ground floor has a 20th-century shop front. The roofs are tiled and double-pitched, with half-hipped sections. The interior retains some 18th-century features.

The buildings are part of a group which includes numbers 72 and 78 (even), numbers 86 to 92 (even), the Congregational Chapel, numbers 61 to 65 (odd), and numbers 83 to 91 (odd).
