Description
No. 83 Newland Street is a building dating from 1841, located on the southeast side of Newland Street. It is adjacent to No. 67, a 17th-century timber-framed and plastered house that has been refronted and altered in the 18th and 19th centuries. The building has three storeys and cellars, featuring a two-window range with double-hung sash windows that have glazing bars, set in flush cased frames. The ground storey includes a cart entrance at the northeast end, revealing some exposed beams and joists. There is a shop front in the style of the 19th century. The main block of the roof is slate and hipped, while a wing at the rear is tiled. Nos. 83 to 91 form a group with Nos. 61 to 65, Nos. 72 to 78, Nos. 86 to 92, and the Congregational Chapel.
