Description
Nos 34 and 35 Wellington Square are early 19th-century buildings. They are stuccoed with a rusticated ground floor, featuring a parapet and cornice. A pediment with a decorated tympanum, acroteria, and scrolls adorns the center. The buildings rise four storeys above a basement and are two windows wide each, totaling eight windows across. The second and third floors have sash windows with glazing bars, while the second floor windows are framed in moulded architraves. Each first floor features a large recessed bowed window with French casements leading to decorative ironwork balconies that are bowed and supported by slender columns with tent-shaped canopies and moulded cornices; the two central balconies are linked. The ground floor has round-headed sash windows, with No 35 retaining glazing bars and No 34 altered to a segmental-headed three-light sash. The doorways are elliptical-headed with traceried fanlights and moulded, panelled doors; however, No 34's fanlight tracery is missing. The buildings also include railings around the basement area. All the listed buildings in Wellington Square form a group.
