Description

This is an early 19th-century pair of buildings situated at the end of the terrace on the north-east side of Wellington Square. The exterior is stuccoed, with a rusticated finish to the ground floor. A high parapet runs along the top, featuring a continuous panel set within a moulded architrave. A pronounced, moulded pilaster runs down the centre of the facade. The building extends over four storeys and a basement level.

The windows are sash windows with glazing bars and narrow margin panes. The ground floor and first floor feature three-light sash windows. A glazed door on the first floor provides access to a balcony that spans the entire width of the building. This balcony is supported by fretwork columns and features a decorative ironwork balustrade, a frieze, and a tent-shaped canopy.

The central two bays of the balcony project over ground floor porches, which have Tuscan columns and doorways with fielded panel reveals. These doorways are topped with rectangular fanlights, decorated friezes and fielded-panel doors. Railings encompass the basement area.

The listed buildings of Wellington Square are considered to form a significant group.
