Description
This is an early to mid-19th century row of three buildings, 43A, 44, and 45 George Street. The buildings are stuccoed and have a cornice and parapet, with a slated roof. They are two storeys high. Number 43A has two modern attic dormers. The building line is asymmetrical, with five bays. The first floor of number 45 features two small, later sash windows without glazing bars, plus one curved sash window on a rounded corner. Number 44 has sash windows with glazing bars in moulded architraves, with the window on the right-hand side being smaller. Number 45 also has a first-floor sash window with glazing bars. There is a continuous cill band on the first floor. The ground floor is occupied by shops: number 43A has a modern shop front with a fascia wrapping around the corner, number 44 has a late Victorian shop front with a cornice and modern glazing bars, and number 45 has a shop front with Ionic pilasters and a later fascia. The buildings are included in the listing due to their group value with other listed buildings along George Street.
