Description
Nos 10 and 11 Marine Parade are a pair of buildings dating to the late 18th and early 19th centuries. No 10 stands behind No 11 and has a weatherboarded elevation facing George Street. It is four storeys and has an attic, with a single sash window with glazing bars on each floor. It features a round-headed brick doorway. The east-facing side has stuccoed and painted brickwork, again with one sash window containing glazing bars on each floor, and a flat-roofed attic dormer containing a sash window with glazing bars. The rounded corner, facing Marine Parade, is stuccoed with curved sash windows containing glazing bars on each floor, and a plain doorway on the ground floor. The roof has been replaced with new tiles.
No 11, which faces Marine Parade, is stuccoed with a tiled hipped roof and a moulded eaves cornice. It is four storeys high. The second and third floors have two sashes without glazing bars, each with a moulded cornice. The ground floor has a later, large three-light sash window without glazing bars, serving as a shop window, and a renewed doorway to the left. This doorway has an open pediment, a semi-circular fanlight, pilasters, and a fielded and glazed-panel door. The right-hand return elevation is weatherboarded, with one sash window containing glazing bars on each floor, and a modern door on the ground floor.
