Description

This milestone, dating from 1825, is located on the north side of High Street in Twyford. It is made of stone and features a square base with a half-rounded shaft that culminates in a conical top. The west face of the milestone has incised Roman lettering indicating distances to Maidenhead and Reading, while the east face shows distances to Colnbrook, Newbury, and Bath. The north face of the base includes the inscription "London 34 Parish of Hurst 1825."
