Description
The Duke of Wellington Public House is a building that originally served as a house, dating back to the 17th century, with alterations made in the late 19th and 20th centuries. The structure features a timber frame that is partially rendered and partially faced with brick, along with 20th-century false timbering on the north front and a brick extension. It has a hipped roof covered with old tiles and is designed in a T-plan, with a 20th-century extension on the south side. The building is two stories high, with attics and a cellar, and has chimneys located at the rear.
On the road front, there are four bays of sash windows with glazing bars on the upper floor, which are irregularly spaced within the false timbering. The ground floor includes a small half-glazed 19th-century entrance door on the left, next to a 12-pane fixed light window. In the center, there are two pairs of 19th-century entrance doors, one pair featuring narrow sidelights. On the right end, there are two coupled 19th-century sash windows with glazing bars. Inside, some of the timber frame is exposed, particularly on the upper floors, and there is a notable early 16th-century staircase with cut flat balusters in straight flights leading from the first floor to the attics.
