Description
Jennings Butchers is a house, later used as a house and shop, dating from the 17th century and significantly altered in the late 19th century. It is constructed with a stucco-faced timber frame and has an old tile roof. The building is arranged in a T-plan with a cross-gabled form. To the left is a two-storey section featuring a rendered chimney on the ridge. A horizontal sliding casement window with glazing bars is on the first floor, while a 20th-century shop window and door are situated below, sheltered by a large, flat hood supported by plain iron brackets. To the right is a two-storey gable end with an attic, the bargeboards being supported by moulded stone brackets. This section has two-light sliding casement windows with glazing bars, hoodmoulds, and decorated plaster architraves. There is one window in the attic, one on the first floor, and two at ground floor level; the ground floor and attic windows have stone cills resting on small brackets. A 19th-century six-panelled entrance door is located on the right-hand side, set under a porch with a flat hood. The interior reveals many portions of the original timber frame.
