Description

The Wagon and Horses Public House is an inn that has been altered and extended since its original construction in the 17th century, with further changes made in the early 19th century. The building features a combination of brick-faced timber framing and painted brick. It has an old tiled hipped roof with a long sloping pent roof on the south side and a higher slate gabled roof on the west end.

The road-facing side of the building includes a one-bay, two-storey extension from the 19th century on the right, which has sash windows with glazing bars. In the center, there is a lower two-storey section with irregularly spaced two-light casements, where the ground floor windows have top lights. To the right, there is a 19th-century entrance door located under an open gabled porch supported by cut brackets. On the left end, a one-and-a-half-storey, one-bay section is slightly recessed, featuring a lean-to slate roof that slopes down to head height on the east side. This section includes a hay loft door and a glazed entrance door below, as well as a further planked door to the left.
