Description

WOKINGHAM ROSE STREET SU 8168 NW (North west side), 18/56 No.82 (formerly listed as Nos. 80 and 82) 2.10.69 G.V. II Cottage. Mid C16 extended C17, altered and extended late C20. Part timber framed, exposed at rear with painted brick infill; part brick, old tile gabled roof. L-plan 2 x 1 framed bays, extension at rear and on east end. 2 storeys. Chimney on ridge on left. Road front:- Dentilled eaves, two, 3-light leaded casements on each floor, segmental heads on ground floor. 6 panelled entrance door on left with top 2 panels glazed in moulded architrave surround and small cornice. The last bay is late C20 in the same style. Interior:- large fireplace at rear with carved beam over opening. Principal beams exposed. Queen post roof with clasped purlins. Part of an early staircase remains on first floor landing, with moulded handrail and fluted columnar newels.
