Description

Rose Cottage is a cottage that dates from the late 16th century, with extensions from the 17th century and alterations made in the mid-18th century and late 20th century. The building has a timber frame that is encased in painted brick at the front, while the rear remains exposed with brick infill. It features an old tile gabled roof that is half hipped on the east side. The cottage has a rectangular plan consisting of two framed bays and a chimney located at the rear of the extension. The front has a rendered plinth and boxed eaves, with three bays. The windows are sash style with glazing bars, including a wide sliding sash with glazing bars on the right side of the ground floor. The entrance door, which is from the 19th century, has four panels with the top two being glazed and is situated under a thin flat hood supported by small brackets. Inside, the principal beams have chamfers, and some of the timbers are reused.
