Description
Clythers is a cottage that dates from the late 16th century, with extensions added in the 17th and 20th centuries. The building features a combination of part timber framing with painted brick infill and part painted brick, topped by an old tiled gabled roof that varies in height. It has an L-shaped plan with two framed bays and 20th-century extensions at either end, the left extension being set back. The cottage is two storeys and one and a half storeys tall, with a chimney located on the ridge.
The entrance front includes a framed gable on the left, supported by large curved braces, with a brick underbuilt ground floor. It has a half-hipped roof and an entrance door on the right. To the right of the entrance, there are two bays of thin framing, with two leaded casements on the first floor and two similar casements on the ground floor. An old fire insurance plaque is located on the right side of the building. Adjacent to this is a lower 20th-century extension, made of painted brick with a gabled tiled roof. Inside, the timber frame is exposed, featuring chamfered beams and two large fireplaces.
