Description
Riseley Farmhouse is a hall house and byre that has been converted into a farmhouse. It dates from the early 16th century, with extensions added in the early 17th and 18th centuries, and alterations made in the 20th century. The building features a combination of part timber framing with painted brick infill and part painted brick, topped with old tile gabled roofs. It is laid out in an L-plan configuration, consisting of a three-bay hall, a two-bay crosswing with a 19th-century gabled extension at the rear, and a two-bay byre on the left side. The farmhouse is two storeys high, with one storey in the byre. There are chimneys located on the ridge of the crosswing, one on the rear roof, and a tall chimney on the left gable of the byre.
The entrance front has two bays, featuring 2, 3, and 4 light casements on the left side, and a gable on the right with a 2-light window on the first floor and a 4-light window on the ground floor. To the left of the gable, there is a 20th-century half-glazed entrance door with a flat hood. Inside, some of the timber frame is visible, with large beams on the first floor and chamfered beams on the ground floor that have stopped ends. There is also an inglenook fireplace with a 20th-century front.
