Description

A small farmhouse, now a cottage, dating from the late 16th century, with significant alterations in the 18th century. The cottage is constructed of painted brick with an old tile gabled roof. It has a rectangular plan with a small extension at the rear. The two-storey front has four bays, with the centre two bays at the first floor blocked. Ground floor windows are 3-light 18th-century casements with segmental heads; a 2-leaf panelled door is located in the third bay from the left, sheltered by a flat hood on wooden posts with lattice sides. A late 18th-century lean-to extension adjoins the right side. An old fire insurance plaque is affixed to the first-floor wall, left of centre. The interior features an inglenook fireplace, and a section of timber frame with wattle and daub is visible on the old gable beneath the extension roof.
