Description

The Old Cottage is an early 17th-century cottage that was re-fronted in the late 18th century and altered and extended in the late 20th century. It is constructed of timber framing with painted brick infill, and part painted brick, with a gabled roof covered in old tiles. The building is arranged in an L-shape with an extension forming the internal angle. It has two storeys. The front elevation features a central chimney and 2 and 3-light casement windows from the 19th and 20th centuries, some with leaded lights. Brick dentil eaves run along the front, with segmental brick heads over the five ground-floor bays. Upper windows are positioned above the second and fourth bays from the left. A ledged entrance door is situated in the centre of the front. The north front has a timber-framed gable with a 2-light casement window above and a 3-light casement window below. The rear of the building is timber-framed, gabled, and irregular in appearance.
