Description

These are stables originally built to serve Farley Hall in the 18th century, extended in the late 19th century, and altered in the 20th century. They are constructed of brick and have a hipped roof covered in old tiles. The building is two storeys high. It features sash windows with glazing bars, alongside more recent casement windows. The central section has three tall arched openings; the upper parts of these openings contain Diocletian windows. Two of the openings now contain garage doors. A pediment sits above these openings, containing a clock in the tympanum and a small, circular bell turret above. The turret is supported by Doric columns, an entablature, and topped with an ogee lead dome and ball finial. Two bays of sash windows flank the central section, with further two-bay extensions on the outer sides, each with flat roofs and a cornice that runs around them. The left-hand extension has two 20th-century casements at ground floor level.
