Description
28 Broad Street is a small town house, now used as offices, dating from the mid-18th century and altered in the mid-20th century. The building is rendered and painted with a slate gabled roof and features a central staircase plan. It has two storeys and attics, with three dormers on the north side that have 2-light casements and glazing bars. There are flanking chimneys and a string course at the first floor level, along with a moulded and bracketed wooden cornice. The front is symmetrical with three bays and flanking angular bays that extend the full height of the building. The central entrance has an 8-panel door set in panelled pilasters, with carved scroll brackets that support a cornice and a pediment decorated with a bold key pattern. Inside, the staircase features turned balusters, newels, and a moulded handrail that rises to the attics.
