Description

This is a mid-16th century cottage that was extended in the 17th century and later refronted in the 18th century, now used as an office. It is timber-framed, with a brick facade featuring vitreous headers at the rear; parts of the exterior are painted roughcast and painted render. The roof is gabled and covered with old tiles. The building has a rectangular plan, originally consisting of one timber-framed bay at the front, with a further timber-framed bay extending to the rear, and a small gable at the rear. It is two storeys high, with one tall chimney on the front roof slope to the left. The front of the building has a plinth. There is a small, 2-light casement window in the roughcast upper storey. The ground floor features a 6-panelled entrance door to the right of a 3-light shop window. The rendered ground floor is also notable for a 3-light shop window. Internally, portions of the original timber frame are visible. The building may represent a surviving bay from a former range of timber-framed cottages that originally adjoined it to the west.
