Description

WOKINGHAM BROAD STREET SU 8168 NW (South side) 18/20 No.24 and front railings 12.11.51 II Small town house, now offices. Mid C17, partially rebuilt and re-fronted mid C18, extended C19, altered C20. Rendered with incised lines, and painted; old tile gabled roof. 2 cell T-plan with stair turret at rear. 2 storeys and attics. Moulded and bracketed wooden cornice, 2 flanking chimneys, 3 flat, lead roof dormers with 2-light casements and glazing bars facing north. Sash windows with glazing bars. 3 bay symmetrical front with flanking angular bays the whole height and 6-panel central door with plain rectangular fanlight, in doorcase of panelled pilasters and flat moulded hood on cut brackets with frieze between. One scraper on the right. Interior:- a C17 framed newel stair with winders, turned balusters and moulded handrail ; rising the whole height to the attic floor. Iron railings either side of entrance door in front of small terrace and returning on each side against No.24.
