Description

The Cottage is a late 18th-century cottage located on the north side of Pangbourne Road in Basildon. It is constructed from flint with brick dressings and lacing courses, topped with an old tile roof.

The building is one and a half storeys high, featuring a half-hipped roof to the left, an end stack to the right, and two gabled eaves dormers that contain three-light casements. On the ground floor, there is a three-light segmental headed casement window to the left and a two-light segmental headed casement window to the right, flanking a 20th-century half-glazed door that is positioned off-centre to the right. This door is sheltered by a 20th-century timber gabled porch.

The Cottage is recognized for its vernacular architecture from the late 18th century and holds group value with other listed cottages of a similar age along Pangbourne Road. The interior has not been inspected.
