Description
Hosehill Farm is a farmhouse that has been converted into a large house. It dates back to the mid-16th century and has undergone alterations in the early 19th century and late 20th century. The building is timber framed with brick infill and part painted brick, topped with an old tile gabled roof. It has an H-plan layout with three framed bays in the center and two gabled crosswings, with 20th-century extensions at the rear. The farmhouse is two storeys high and features a flanking chimney on the left that projects from the wall, along with a smaller chimney on the ridge to the left.
The entrance front showcases close studding on two gables, although the frame is missing on the ground floor. Some close studding remains in the recessed central section, with curved braces on the right gable and straight braces on the left. Both gables are adorned with heavy carved 19th-century bargeboards. The windows are three-light casements with small panes, one in each gable, while the ground floor features larger, off-centre versions. The central part has two three-light casements on the first floor and one four-light casement on the ground floor, accompanied by a 19th-century gabled entrance porch that projects in front of the right-hand gable.
Inside, the farmhouse retains much visible timber framing, including some close studding and an old three-light diamond mullioned window in one of the bedroom walls. Some false framing has been added in the 20th century.
