Description

BURGHFIELD HOSE HILL SU 66 NE (west side) 4/12 Hosehill Farm II Farmhouse now large house. Mid C16 altered early C19 and late C20. Timber framed with brick infill, part painted brick; old tile gabled roof. H-plan, 3 framed bay centre, 2 framed bay gabled crosswings C20 extensions at rear. 2 storeys. Flanking chimney on left projecting from wall; smaller chimney at left on ridge. Entrance front: close studding on 2 gables, frame missing on ground floor. Some close studding remaining in centre recessed section; curved braces on right gable, straight on left. Heavy carved C19 bargeboards on both gables. 3-light casement windows with small panes, one in each gable, similar on ground floor but larger and off centre. Centre part has two, 3-light casements on first floor, one 4-light on ground floor, with C19 gabled entrance porch adjoining and projecting in front of right hand gable. Interior: contains much visible timber framing, some close studding and an old 3-light diamond mullioned window in one bedroom wall. Some false framing has been added in C20.
