Description
The Old Manor is a small manor house located on Folly Lane in Burghfield, built in 1685 and later extended and altered in the 20th century. The building is constructed of brick with vitreous headers and features an old tiled gabled roof. It has a three-cell lobby entrance plan, a stair turret, and 20th-century extensions at the rear. The house is two storeys high with attics, although the attic window on the gable is blocked. A central chimney is situated on the ridge, and the exterior includes a plinth, string course, and projecting eaves cornice.
The entrance front has three bays and features a two-storey projecting entry porch with a two-panelled entrance door and a date panel in the gable indicating 1685. The windows are 19th-century three-light casements with glazing bars and segmental brick arches. To the right, there is a small 20th-century lean-to extension. Inside, the ground floor reveals two principal beams that are exposed, showcasing chamfers and stop ends, while the room on the right also has heavy floor joists.
