Description
Meales Farmhouse is a Grade II listed farmhouse located on the west side of Whites Hill in Sulhamstead. The left-hand block dates from the late 17th century and features a rendered timber frame with an old tile roof. It has one framed bay and is 1½ storeys high, with a central gabled eaves dormer that includes a two-light casement and an end stack on the left. The central projecting hipped porch has a two-light casement and a half-glazed door on the left side. There is a 20th-century conservatory to the left. At the rear, there is an off-centre gabled eaves dormer to the left with a two-light casement and a central 20th-century French casement.
The right-hand block, built in the mid-18th century, is made of rendered brick and has a hipped old tile roof. This section is two storeys high with two end stacks on the left and one on the right. It consists of three bays featuring glazing bar sashes with exposed wooden boxes. The central entrance has a four-panelled door, with the upper two panels glazed, and is sheltered by a 20th-century gabled timber porch. The rear has three bays with glazing bar sashes, tripartite in the outer bays, and a central six-panelled door with the upper two panels glazed and decorative egg and dart moulding. Inside, there is a central six-panelled door with the upper two panels glazed and egg and dart moulding, along with a gabled lattice porch that includes side seats. The farmhouse originally had two flat-topped dormers at the front.
