Description
Park Farmhouse is a Grade II* listed farmhouse located on Frenchmoor Lane in East Dean. The building dates from the 17th century and was extended in the 18th century. It features a timber frame that is tile-hung on a stone and brick plinth, with a later brick wing that is also tile-hung. The roof is covered with old plain tiles and has an L-shaped plan.
The original 17th-century section is two stories high with three bays and a stack bay. At the rear, there is a three-bay wing that was added in the 18th century. The front of the house has French windows in the smoke bay to the left of the center, a 16-pane sash window in the left bay, an 18th-century four-light leaded casement window in the center bay, and two two-light casements in the right bay. On the first floor, there are irregular two-light casements, with two in the center and right bays. The roof is half-hipped and features a large stack bay with three diamond shafts.
To the left end of the house, there is an 18th-century front that includes a central 20th-century half-glazed door set within a 20th-century hipped open porch supported by brick piers. The front also has five 16-pane sash windows, and the roof is hipped with a higher ridge.
