Description
This granary, located approximately 10 metres east of Kiln Farmhouse, dates from the late 17th century and has been altered over time. It features a timber-frame structure with weatherboard cladding resting on staddle stones, topped by a plain tile half-hipped roof. The building consists of three bays by one bay, with a board hatch on each side. The north gable has concrete steps leading up to a board door, which is flanked by hatches.
Inside, the granary has jowelled wall posts with arch braces supporting the tie-beams. The roof structure includes "raised cruck" type trusses with collars and principal rafters, along with old rafters and two tiers of through purlins, complemented by straight wind braces. The walls are lined with horizontal boards, and there are three bins along the west wall. The roof construction is similar to that of the nearby barn.
