Description

Emery's Farmhouse is a timber-framed farmhouse dating to the mid-16th century, with significant alterations and additions made in the early 19th century and the late 19th century. The original timber frame is now largely hidden behind rendered facing, a plat band, and white-painted brick additions to the east. The roof is tiled, with a catslide extending over an outshot to the north and a central ridge stack. A later projecting gabled cross wing was added to the east, also with a stack and catslide extending over an outshot to the east. The building is arranged in an L-shape, with two original framed bays and later additions creating a lobby entrance type plan. The farmhouse has two storeys. The front elevation features two glazing bar sashes on each floor, a central 4-panelled door beneath a stack, and a gabled porch with two Tuscan columns. The first floor has a three-light segmental headed casement, and the ground floor has a four-light casement in the gable end to the right; a small casement is in a lean-to projection. Inside, substantial remains of the original 16th-century timber frame are still visible.
