Description
Kiln Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations and extensions made in the 19th century. It is constructed of brick in Flemish bond, featuring some vitreous headers, and has an old tiled gabled roof. The building has a central staircase plan with four cells, and it is two storeys high with a cellar, while part of it is one storey. There is an end chimney on the left side of the original house, which has a corniced head and a clay pot, along with corbelled eaves.
The entrance front faces south and consists of three bays. On the ground floor, there are sash windows with glazing bars and segmental heads, while the first floor features two three-light and one one-light casement window, which were added around 1985. A rustic porch, built around 1900, is located in the centre and has an iron ogee roof. The entrance door is a six-panel design, with the top four panels being glazed. Notably, there is graffiti in the bricks of the right return, including the date 1760.
Inside, the farmhouse contains step-chamfered beams, panelled and boarded doors with H-L hinges and strap hinges, and a cellar that is brick-paved with a candle recess.
