Description
The granary at Newlands Farm was built in the mid-19th century. It is a timber-framed structure featuring weatherboarding and later cladding of corrugated metal sheets, and it stands on staddle stones with a clay tile roof.
The granary has a rectangular footprint and is a detached single-storey building. It is elevated on a set of staddle stones, most of which are still in place, although some have been dislodged. The building is topped with a pyramidal clay-tile roof that has ridge tiles. The lower part of the granary is covered with corrugated metal sheets, while the upper sections are clad in weatherboarding. The north elevation features a raised entrance, and there is a casement window on the west elevation.
Inside, the walls are lined with horizontal timber boards, and the tops of the walls have been reclad with corrugated metal sheets. There is a partition in the center that divides the grain bins. The roof structure includes a pair of tie beams with rafters that meet at a thin ridge beam.
