Description

The Swan Hotel is a two-house public house situated on the west side of High Street, East Ilsley. It dates from the 18th century. The building is constructed of painted brick with tiled roofs, forming an L-shaped plan with two wings. It is of group value. The elevation to the east features a lower block to the left, with two glazing bar sashes with exposed frames and cambered heads either side of a central six-panel door. The block to the right has a glazing bar sash window on its right side and a six-panel door with a corniced hood above a sign. A band runs across the first floor, finished with dentil eaves, and there are end chimneys to the north, with a ridge chimney central on the south block.
