Description
Poplar Cottage and Annexe are a pair of early 17th-century cottages located in East Ilsley. They are timber-framed with painted brick infill and have an asbestos pantile roof. The original structure is a three-bay frame, with a 20th-century extension to the north end. The cottage has one and a half storeys, featuring three 20th-century eaves dormers, a large central ridge stack, and an end stack to the south. The west elevation includes a brick 20th-century extension with a hipped roof and a two-light casement window. The central bays each have a three-light casement window, while the right-hand bay contains a larger, multi-paned sash window. Dormer windows are located above each bay. A brick gabled 20th-century porch is situated at the junction of the extension and the original frame, and a 20th-century lean-to roof covers the right-hand end of the building.
