Description

The Old Post Office is a house dating from the late 18th century, with an early 19th-century addition and 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of render and brick, grey in colour, with red dressings and tiled roofs. The house has a double pile plan. It is two storeys and an attic, with a parapet and cornice on the east elevation, and flanking chimneys to each roof range.

The east elevation features two coupled glazing bar sashes on the first floor, and three large, irregularly spaced 20th-century windows on the ground floor. The entrance is located in an adjoining 19th-century cottage. The west elevation has four glazing bar sashes, with exposed box frames and cambered heads; a tripartite sash is to the left of the ground floor, and a 20th-century casement to the right.

Inside, a dogleg staircase with turned balusters is situated in the hall between the two ranges of the house. Moulded and raised and fielded panelling, with cornices, is found in the front north and rear south ground floor rooms.
