Description
East Ilsley Hall is a house dating from the early 18th century, with a 19th-century extension. It is constructed of grey brick with red dressings and features a tiled mansard roof. The building has a square plan with an extension to the east and stands two storeys high with an attic, along with a one-storey extension. It has a plinth and a moulded brick cornice at the base of a panelled parapet, topped with moulded stone capping. The south elevation consists of five bays separated by full-height pilasters, with five glazing bar sash windows that have cambered heads, exposed box frames, and rubbed brick arches and aprons. The entrance is located in the extension to the right, featuring a 20th-century six-panel door with a semi-circular radiating fanlight set in a rubbed brick arch, beneath an oval window with radial glazing in a rubbed brick surround with keys.
Inside, the front rooms on the ground floor are panelled, with moulded surrounds to raised and fielded panels, dado and cornice. The doorcases have semi-circular fanlights, fluted pilasters, and scrolled keys, while the windows are fitted with shutters and seats. The first-floor rooms also have dado panelling and cornices. There is an open well stair in the rear hall with a carved ramped handrail, turned balusters, and Doric column newels, along with a carved open string.
