Description
Corace House is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations and additions from the 19th and 20th centuries. It features a brick front with grey headers and red stretchers, and a timber frame with rendered infill to the west, along with brick extensions and tiled roofs. The main block has a lobby entry plan running from west to east, with two extensions at right angles to the north that are parallel to each other; the eastern extension is from the 20th century, while the western extension is from the 19th century and has been altered in the 20th century. The house is two storeys high and has a brick dentil course at the eaves of the south elevation, a large central ridge chimney on the main block, and a chimney with a bread oven on the north side of the 19th-century block.
On the south elevation, there is an early 19th-century front with paired cross-glazed sash windows flanking a central door. The ground floor features sashes with cambered heads, and the central door is a two-panel bolection moulded door set in a doorcase with pilasters, a fluted frieze, a dentilled cornice, and a pediment. The west elevation shows a 19th-century brick extension with a 20th-century first floor to the left, which includes two 19th-century sash windows, while the right side reveals a 17th-century gable with the full timber frame exposed and a three-light casement window in the gable.
