Description
Lovells Cottages is a pair of cottages dating from the 17th century, with a late 18th-century front and 20th-century restoration and extensions on each side. The cottages have a brick front and a timber frame at the rear, topped with a thatched roof. They are positioned at right angles to the roadway, featuring a south-facing front that is one storey high with an attic and three windows. The east side has been extended to two storeys with one window. The roof is half-hipped and includes eyebrow dormers, with interlocking tiles on the east side. The painted brickwork is laid in Flemish bond, and the ground floor has cambered openings. There is a mix of casement windows and two doorways, one with an enclosed porch and the other with an open porch. At the rear, the central section is a low two-storey structure with exposed framing, brick infilling, and some panels of banded brick and flint.
