142-146, SOUTHAMPTON STREET

Nos 142 to 146 on Southampton Street are mid-19th century buildings that stand two storeys tall, with Nos 144 and 146 featuring an attic. They have a stucco cornice and parapets, and their roofs are mainly slate, with some parts hipped. The buildings are set back from the street with long front gardens. No 142 has two modern casement windows and a lower extension on the right, with its former datestone removed. Nos 144 and 146 form a three-window pair, constructed with grey brick headers and red dressings, and have paired doors in the centre. No 144 features glazing bar sash windows and has a two-course band above the first floor. To the left of No 144, there is a one-window wing with a chequered parapet and a two-arch loggia featuring rubbed brick arches on the ground floor, with a set-back door to the left and a round-headed window to the right.
