Description
Nos 22 to 26 Knight Street is a row of buildings dating from the 16th to 17th century. They are constructed of flint with brick dressings, and No 26 on the left features stone quoins. Nos 22 and 24 have stuccoed fronts, while No 24 has a ground floor faced in 20th-century red brick. The buildings have a steep pantile roof with a coped gable end and rise to two storeys. There are five windows, which include 2-light casements with glazing bars; the first-floor windows are probably from the 19th century, while the ground-floor windows are from the 20th century. No 22 has early 19th-century sash windows with glazing bars and a flush panelled and glazed door set in a moulded doorcase. The doors of Nos 24 and 26 are glazed and panelled, dating from the 19th or 20th century. There are brick chimney stacks positioned off centre and at the end, along with a modern brick stack between. No 26 also has a modern brick wing at the rear. Inside, No 24 features a heavily moulded ceiling beam and exposed joists in the ground floor room, as well as a moulded fireplace bressummer with carved initials.
