Description
Nos 18 and 20 Knight Street is a single house that may date back to the 17th century or earlier, but was remodeled in the mid to late 19th century. It features a front made of buff brick with brick pilasters, a string course, and a dentilled cornice. The building has two storeys and five windows, although one on the first floor is blocked. The windows are sashes without glazing bars and have flat rubbed brick arches.
The right-hand doorway is pilastered and includes an entablature, panelled reveals, and a glazed and panelled door. The left-hand doorway, added in the late 19th or early 20th century, has a glazed door and sidelights. Behind the facade, there is a steeply pitched slated roof with gabled ends.
At the rear, there is an addition from the early to mid-19th century made of red brick with a slated roof, also two storeys tall, featuring two windows that are sashes with glazing bars and a central pilastered doorway with a cornice hood.
