Description

A pair of houses, originally a single house, dating back to the 16th century, with an addition from the 18th century. The original house is timber framed, now rendered and painted, with the timber frame visible in the eastern gable end. The roof has been raised and is covered in concrete tiles, with chimneys at the centre and right-hand side. The western bay is three storeys high, while the eastern bay is two storeys with a prominent plinth. The western bay has four modern casement windows and a modern door with a hood, which may have originally been a coach entry and is now filled in. Inside, a large chimney stack from around 1600 is located in the centre, featuring three stone fireplace arches with flat hoods. The jambs are chamfered; the ground floor on the eastern side has quarter-round moulding, while the western side has a three-centred brick arch. Floors were also inserted around 1600, featuring plain spine beams with run-out stops.
