Description
Home Farmhouse is a house that dates from the 17th century but was refronted in the late 18th century. It features blue vitreous brick laid in header bond, with red brick quoins, gauged window arches, and vertical strips framing the openings. The roof is tiled and old, with a central chimney made of 17th-century brick and later flanking chimneys. The eaves are plain and boxed.
The house has two storeys and a cellar, with a moulded brick plinth. The north front has five bays, with the central bay flanked by wide, slightly projecting piers that have red brick quoins. There are sash windows with architrave frames and a central door that has four flush panels and a three-pane rectangular fanlight in a heavy wood frame, topped by a flat hood supported by plain wrought iron brackets. A cellar window is located between the two right-hand bays. The east gable is timber framed with brick infilling, while the west gable is rendered. There is also a 19th-century two-storey rear wing.
