Description
Church Farmhouse is a house from the early 18th century that was altered in the later 18th century. It is built of chequer brick with red dressings and has a hipped slate roof with a brick stack located to the left of the center and moulded wood eaves. The house has two storeys and a cellar, with a first-floor band. The south front features three bays, with windows that have flat gauged brick arches. The first-floor windows are three-pane sashes, while the outer ground floor windows are late 18th-century three-light sashes, with a central four-pane wide sash.
The central entrance consists of a four-panel door, where the upper panels are glazed, and it is framed by a plain rectangular fanlight within a stucco doorcase that has plain pilasters. Moulded console brackets support a section of frieze and a dentil cornice above the door. Access to the door is via a flight of 11 steps, which are flanked by 19th-century brick walls with half-round copings, ending in low square brick piers topped with stone copings.
The east and west fronts each have two bays, with all blank recesses except for the left-hand sashes on the east side. At the rear, there is a lower wing that is two storeys high, made of brick, with an old tile roof and irregular casements.
