Description
The Church of St Mary Magdalen is a parish church dating from the 14th century, with a 15th-century tower, and a south chapel and porch that were added in the 16th or 17th century. It underwent restoration by Browne-Willis in the 18th century and again in 1864 when the chancel was rebuilt. The church is constructed of brown sandstone rubble, featuring Totternhoe and later limestone dressings, and has slate roofs. The west tower is thin and supported by heavy buttresses, with a chamber to the south. The building includes a south aisle, porch, and a south chapel that was rebuilt in 1710, along with the chancel. Inside, there is a south arcade and arches to the south chapel from the 16th or 17th century, as well as a blocked arch in the north wall leading to the tower transept from the 14th century.
