Description

Hutchins is a house, originally dating to the 16th century, with alterations from the 18th century and a 20th-century extension at the right end. The exterior combines timber framing with red and blue brick cladding in the lower part and diamond-pattern tile hanging above, topped by a plain tiled roof featuring a trefoil ridge cresting. The house has a prominent stack to the left of the centre, with further stacks to the right and rear. The central section is a single storey with attics contained within two gabled dormers. The two gabled end wings are two storeys high and feature bargeboards. A two-storey bay window is present on the right wing, and a cambered-head window on the left. A half-glazed door is set within a polygonal porch on the left, with a parallel door within a hipped porch hood on the right.

Inside, the original timber framing is visible, including ceiling frames and partition walls. A ground floor room in the centre features oak panelling and moulding in one wall, and a restored brick fireplace. The first floor ceilings have cambered tie beams.
