Description

These are two cottages, originally separate, now under single ownership. Number 2 dates from the mid-17th century and was originally a two-bay house with an external chimney stack. Number 1 is an 18th-century one-bay addition to the east, with a 20th-century extension built in a matching style that is not of special architectural interest.

The ground floor of Number 2 is red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, while the first floor is tile-hung with a diamond pattern formed from curved tiles. Both cottages share a tiled roof with two external chimney stacks at each end and one central brick chimney stack. The cottages have two storeys and three windows in total. The windows are 19th-century, three-light casements. Number 2 has a 20th-century plank door with a rectangular fanlight above and a flat hood with trelliswork. Number 1 has a 20th-century four-pane door. The rear of the building has a catslide roof. Within the west ground floor room of Number 2 is a large open fireplace, a beamed ceiling, box frame construction, and close studding.
